THIS TRIPTYCH WAS DESIGNED FOR AN AMSTERDAM KITCHEN THAT ADJOINS THE GARDEN. THE KITCHEN’S LARGE YELLOW BEAMS ARE USED AS AN ELEMENT IN THE DESIGN: CONSEQUENTLY THE LONG HORIZONTAL FORMAT OF THE PAINTING. ELEMENTS FROM A KITCHEN HAVE BEEN USED AS WELL AS AN OLD DUTCH TEXT AS A DECORATIVE ELEMENT. |

THIS VERY SMALL GARDEN(2.46 X 2.28) PAINTED IN OLD YELLOW WITH TRELLIS WORK HAS ALSO A TROMPE L’OEIL PAINTED TRELLIS TO ALLOW THE ADDITION OF VARIOUS BIRDS TO GIVE THE FEELING OF BEING IN AN AVIARY. WITHIN THIS SMALL SPACE HANGS A SWING THAT ROTATES 360 DEGREES FOR LAZY SUMMER AFTERNOONS, WHILE IN THE CORNER IS A SMALL WELL WITH A LADDER ESPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR THE RESIDENT FROGS. THERE IS ALSO A SMALL, DECORATIVE WATER FOUNTAIN. THE TRELLIS WORK CONTINUES UP PAST THE SECOND FLOOR OF THE HOUSE AND FEATURES A TROMPE L'OEIL WINDOW AS SEEN, AND CONTINUING FROM THE DESIGN OF THE MAIN SITTING ROOM. |
